On Career Cruising (CC) you completed an assessment of 116 questions.  Based on how you answered the questions, CC produced a list of jobs you may be interested in.  Compare  the list you created on Monday from the government site to CC's list - do you have any matches?

Wages by Occupation

Wages by Occupation
1)    Go to the following web site (see link below).  Read through all the different types of jobs. 
2)    Based on job titles listed on the web site, list the top 10 jobs you think you might be interested in as far as a career.  Also list hourly wage, yearly wage and what type of education you think you might need.   (Later this week we'll be researching job - we'll check to see if you were right.)

Commercial vs Free Software Comparison

1) Define the following and give two examples of each (freeware, shareware, and commercial software you use at home and/or school) 
  • freeware (2 examples you use)
  • shareware (2 examples you use)
  • open source (do you use?  if so, give an example)
  • commercial software (2 examples you use)
2) : Read the article based on a US Case study on software Piracy

Adult Interviews

Adult interview:  You are to interview two adults (over 30 years of age) about their jobs / career.  It could be both parents (mother and father), or a parent and another adult such as aunt, uncle, neighbor, etc. 

Questions:
  1. What is their job title.
  2. What are some of their responsibilities?
  3. What type of education was needed to obtain this job?
  4. Was there any “on-the-job-training” in addition to formal education that was required?
  5. What are the hours they work and number of days?
  6. Do they work overtime?  If so how are they compensated for overtime?
  7. Dress code:  What is typical dress for workers and how do managers dress?
  8. What are things they like about their job?
  9. What are things they don’t like about the job?
  10. Do they work in teams?
  11. What is the starting wage for that type of job?
  12. What type of benefits do they get if any? 
  13. Comments – they may provide additional information

The response to questions is to be typed in memo format – use memo template professional, contemporary, elegant design format  (TO:  Janice Lang , FROM: Your name:,  DATE: use current date,  SUBJECT: Interviews).       PRINT

Digital Stories

Hello students!  It's Monday, April 18 - you were to come to school with your script 100% completed. After you are finish recording your scripts, you're ready for Movie Maker. 

 Movie Maker:  Click start menu / go to Programs File folder / open Movie Maker Folder - double click on "exe" file - you may drag this icon on your desktop if you wish.  Now you're ready to import your images and audio recordings. 

This project is due by Wednesday - have fun. 

 If you are absent - you can do recording of script at home and email it to yourself.
